VFW Supports Take A Veteran To School Day
On June 20, 2009 the West Virginia Veterans of Foreign Wars passed the below resolution to encourage West Virginia educators to participate in future Take a Veteran to School Day initiatives.

Encouraging West Virginia educators to participate in future Take a Veteran to School Day initiatives.
WHEREAS, there are 178,000 veterans in the state of West Virginia; and
WHEREAS, United States Senator Jay Rockefeller joined with veterans groups across the state and the West Virginia Cable Telecommunications Association to facilitate The History Channel’s Take a Veteran to School Day in West Virginia schools during the Fall of 2008; and
WHEREAS, the program helps recognize and thank veterans around the Mountain State for their service, bravery and sacrifice to our great nation; and
WHEREAS, United States Senator Jay Rockefeller and the West Virginia Cable Telecommunications Association, along with the endorsement of the West Virginia Veterans Council and West Virginia Veterans Coalition, should be commended for their commitment to honoring West Virginia veterans through this important program:
Now, therefore, be it Resolved:
That the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Department of West Virginia recognizes the important contributions made by United States Senator Jay Rockefeller, students and educators across the state of West Virginia for the success of the West Virginia Cable Telecommunication Association’s Take a Veteran to School Day; and be it
Further Resolved, That all West Virginia educators should be encouraged to participate in future Take a Veteran to School initiatives and express to all citizens to learn more from the veterans in their communities; and, be it
Further Resolved, That a certified copy of this resolution is forwarded to United States Senator Jay Rockefeller, the West Virginia Superintendent of Schools and the appropriate contacts at the West Virginia Cable Telecommunications Association and the History Channel.
